Happy Friday Everyone! This week, Eating Michigan ventures to the Upper Peninsula to review Sydney’s in Munising.
Sydney’s is a family restaurant with a slight hint of an Australian theme. By looking at their menu on their website, I was expecting something similar to an Outback Steakhouse, but when I walked in, it looked more like my local Coney. This is in no way a bad thing, I was just expecting something different. This restaurant has probably seen better days, but once again, it was in no way bad. The white walls were decorated with Australian license plates, of all things and a salad bar took up one wall.
The reason we ended up eating here is that they had a deal with our hotel, that if you show your room key at the restaurant, you receive 20% off (but of course, we remembered that right after we paid). The servers were attentive and the place was clean. Sydney’s serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week.
We ordered “Sydney’s Famous 4-Piece “Honey Stung” Chicken Dinner” which is four pieces of chicken in a special blend of spices and herbs with honey and deep fried. We tried it with sweet potato fries. It was sweet and delicious! It was like nothing I’d ever tried before. But, it was also a lot of food. Between the two of us, we couldn’t finish it.
Both dinners came with unlimited salad bar and a small piece of bread (which can be seen on the plates.
All-in-all it was a good restaurant. The interior could use some touching up, but to be completely honest, there are not a lot of other restaurants in the area. If you are in the Munising area, this is a great place to grab a bite to eat.
Sydney’s is located on M-28 East in Munising. They can be found on the web at sydneysrestaurant.com.
The reason I was in Munising was to see the colors change and the Upper Peninsula is breathtaking in Autumn. If you ever get the chance to see it, do! Here are some photos so you can see what you missed out on this year (I’m pretty sure its done by now):
Taken from the Pictured Rocks Boat Tours located in Munising. I’m sure this tour would be just as beautiful any other time of the year, as well.
If you are looking for a place to visit that is filled with Nature’s Beauty, Munising is the place to go. Whether to see the fall colors or to relax on a Lake Superior Beach in the summer, this area is gorgeous! , Tahquamenon Falls is less than two hours away and is stunning as well.
Ok, I am starting to sound like a commercial and should probably stop!
Oh yeah, if you haven’t read my last blog post, please check out my blogroll and vote on whether or not I should review recipes! See you next Friday!
